Former G.T. Evans Express owner George Thomas Evans, 76, of Paris died Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at his home.
His body is to be cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Evans was born July 5, 1943, in Paris. He was the son of the late Carl Atlas and Frenzie Pearl McFarland Evans.
He was married on May 12, 2003, to Sandra Mary Evans, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by four daughters: Valerie McClanahan, Karyn Evans and Carole Cates, all of Illinois, and Christina Hughes of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Margaret Alene Evans and Rebecca Jean Evans, both of Paris, Mattie Winona Tyler of Portage, Mich., Sarah Kathalene Gross of Colfax, N.C., and Teresa Dale Faggart of Rockwell, N.C.; one brother, Robert Lee Evans of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Lowe and Patricia Evans; and two brothers, Donald Ray Evans and Carl Atlas Evans Jr.
A family member said Evans enjoyed taking care of his cats. He attended the Nazarene Church in Paris.
