Paris native Jason R. Blaylock, 47, of Memphis died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Pamela Hughes officiating. Pallbearers will be Hunter Smothers, Nicholas Blaylock, Alvin Smothers and Donny Wills. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Blaylock was born Sept. 17, 1976, in Paris. He was the son of Patricia Smothers Blaylock of Paris, who survives, and the late Ricky Blaylock. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Nicholas Blaylock of Paris; a stepsister, Tiffany Mohon Bishop of Paris; and four uncles: Mike Blaylock, Bryan Gump, Alvin Smothers and Bill Smothers. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Smothers. Jason was one of God’s “Special Children.” He was a really happy young man who like swimming and loved people watching. He also enjoyed going to parties at his group home.
