Luther Allen Briggs Jr., 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Briggs was born in Columbia on Sept. 29, 1931, to the late Luther A. Briggs Sr. and Era Bunch Calvert Briggs. He proudly served his country in the US Army and owned his own construction business. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Wesley Briggs, Douglas Briggs and Charles Briggs; and three sisters: Virginia Sowell, Dorothy Delong and Jackie Cooper.
He is survived by two sons, Allen Briggs of Paris and Dale Ray Briggs of Jackson; two daughters, Ellen Louise Hamlin of Martinez, Calif. and Sharon Ann Anweiler of Knoxville; three brothers: Frankie Briggs, Ray Briggs and Carl Thomas Briggs; a sister, Nancy Sue Christ; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The Briggs family are honoring his wishes for cremation. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Henry County Tabernacle, 8630 Reynoldsburg Road, Springville.
