The serene rollout on the first day of the Save America Rally in Washington, D.C., was by and large like the calm before a cyclone.
With that in mind, just as the eye of an F-5 will pass to bring the surge and roil of the wind, so too did Day 2 bring with it the rage of a mob who gathered force to storm the People’s House.
Trump fans reach down to pick their jaw up off the floor, as it is out of character for those who support him to raise Hades when they protest. To be sure, he did not incite the throng of miscreants to smash through the windows and bust down the doors.
Since when does “peacefully and patriotically” let them hear your voice translate to mob mayhem?
Now, it’d be idiotic to echo Rudy Giuliani, who cried out, “So, let’s have trial by combat.” But he didn’t.
We know good and well, if he were to blurt out any gems close to the realm of his, that the mainstream press would bombard us with their head spin. We’d have to hear a 24-hour loop of them play day in and day out.
The FBI investigation found that this was a premeditated attack. A private security firm, the purported largest in the world, gives forces a two-day lead in a bulletin put out to warn them of rival activist groups who fancy a counter protest on Jan. 6 in Washington (GardaWorld, 2021).
A war veteran who is clad in combat gear with a bag full of goodies on him — like zip tie handcuffs — does not make his way from Texas to D.C. unless he has a plan.
And, if what they allege has but a dash of veracity and a grain of truth, then you don’t need to go to a carnival fortune teller to predict how a series of events such as this is going to unfold.
Many of the marchers bear witness to the busloads of Black Lives Matter and Antifa activists pulling up to infiltrate the demonstration, which is the modus operandi of these alliances. So, the verdict is still out on who else had a role in the merry ring of rioters.
It is a big news flash for a known agent provocateur of Antifa and BLM to go to the rally and buy a Trump hat to pose as a supporter.
John Earle Sullivan boasts of this in a video post. And so, they indict him in Utah amid the claim that he was one of the riot instigators.
As an imposter, he may just top the world’s dumbest criminal list. His disguise as a member of the press is a lie he tells “all the time” — he crows that this fallback works like a charm.
The word is, they treat Black Lives Matter protesters differently. The core of this belief is based part and parcel on more melanin in their skin, though a mere 3% in places like L.A. fit this description.
The vast majority of the BLM coalition are white liberals. Be that as it may, I agree. They do hold them to a separate set of standards (PRN, 2020).
It is true most of them did march in peaceful protest under the light of day. But agitators rise with the moon to launch fireworks in the face of police and hurl Molotov cocktails at them beneath the shadow of night.
In a solid effort to raze D.C. to the ground, they’d set places of worship ablaze. Sparks flick and flames lick the dark sky as one of the demonstrators kick the torched dumpster on fire in front of the White House.
Hundreds rush the barricade and clash with Secret Service. They injure 60 of the men and women there to protect the commander in chief, and 11 of them go to the hospital.
They whisk the president and the first family down to the bunker to keep them safe from the hostile mob.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser cowers. She commissioned a mural to name a plaza in honor of the rebels who took to the streets this summer.
This pet project came to fruition after she had the audacity to kick the National Guard out of their hotel, under the premise of not having enough funds to house them. To see so many of them sit atop their pack on the concrete sidewalks could bring a tear to your eye.
Now, she calls on them to protect President-elect Joe Biden on his inauguration. Like it or not, he’s the next POTUS, and it is her duty to bring in the troops.
At the same time, it is barbarism and a travesty for our great men and women in uniform to fall asleep on the cold, hard, marble floor.
Fringe factions can lean so far to the right or left that they’ll meet in the middle to join hands. In short, you’ll find a right-wing kook and left-wing lunatic in the bottom of every Crackerjack box.
A person who maims another is a bad actor — left or right makes no difference.
All in all, a stray cat might scratch at your door, but it doesn’t make you the owner — that is, unless you set out a can of tuna for him. In other words, while they may back him, he does not have their back.
The president didn’t mince words in his address to the nation from the Oval Office. He said in part: “My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the troubling events of the past week.
“As I have said, the incursion of the U.S. Capitol struck at the very heart of our republic. It angered and appalled millions of Americans across the political spectrum.
“I want to be very clear; I unequivocally condemn the violence that we saw last week. Violence and vandalism have absolutely no place in our country and no place in our movement.
“Making America great again has always been about defending the rule of law, supporting the men and women of law enforcement, and upholding our nations most sacred traditions and values.
“Mob violence goes against everything I believe in and everything our movement stands for. No true supporter of mine could ever endorse political violence. No true supporter of mine could ever disrespect law enforcement or our great American flag.
“No true supporter of mine could ever threaten or harass their fellow Americans. If you do any of these things, you are not supporting our movement, you are attacking it and you are attacking our country. We cannot tolerate it.”
He reached out to those who believe in his agenda to think of ways to “ease tensions, calm tempers and help to promote peace in our country.”
Too bad the word police get to deign who America can hear from, even if it’s from our president.
In the end, no matter where it takes place or by whom, a riot is not a mostly peaceful protest.
