To the editor:
My father, Vandiver L. Childs, was the manager at the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge from February 1954 until May 14, 1982.
Every day he worked, he entered a brief description of what he did that day in a field diary.
My mother, Juanita Childs, who has since passed away, told me that somebody borrowed all my father’s field diaries from her for all those years, 1954-1982.
They had not been returned to her when I helped her move to Arkansas.
I would appreciate you publishing this letter in The Post-Intelligencer so that, maybe, whoever borrowed the field diaries for 1954-1982 will be identified and I can donate those field diaries to the archives at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
