To the editor:

I am very disturbed by the decision to rename Lee School. As many of you know, I grew up across the street from Lee School and attended it for several years. I am proud to be one of its alumni.

I cannot tell you how many times I have bragged on Paris because of the way a tiny country town managed to become inclusive and encourage the arts, while also ignoring “political correctness.”

I could barely tolerate the destruction of our history when it hit major cities like Memphis, and I am very unhappy that it has finally hit Paris.

Further, I am concerned that this decision was made with no notice to those of us who contributed over the years, so that we would be unable to comment.

I do have the highest respect for the folks on the board, but this time they have made a very wrong decision.
