The Henry County High School girls’ golf team

The Henry County High School girls’ golf team came in first at a golf tournament Thursday at Union City. Golfers at Henry County High School enjoyed a strong tournament performance Thursday at Union City.

The Lady Patriots won the girls’ competition with Sydney Williams claiming medalist honors with an 18-hole score of 76. The Patriots placed second with Eli Ridgeway earning medalist honors. Ridgeway’s 18-hole score was 70.

Williams, Ridgeway, Bentley Irby (83) and Jack Foster (86) all shot personal best rounds.

The Lady Patriots’ two-player total was 159. In addition to Williams and Irby, Lady Patriots Annie Veazey and Raven Page both shot 99.

Union City finished at 211 in the team competiton. South Fulton’s Jenny Beth Brundige came in second individually with a round of 80.

Both Union City and Henry County’s boys’ finished with a four-player total of 337 with the Tornadoes getting the top spot on a playoff.

The Patriots’ totals in addition to Ridgeway and Foster included Jameson Robbins at 87 and Dalton Dodd at 94. Chase Wyrick also played for the Patriots and came in at 96.

In the boys’ individual scoring, Union City’s Tyler Walton and Gibson County’s Ethan Goad both shot 75 to finish behind Ridgeway.

Dresden, Trenton and South Fulton also had boys teams in the tournament.

Henry County will be playing host to the District 10-AAA tournament this morning starting at 9 at the Tennessee Golf Trail course at Paris Landing State Park.
