Lady Patriots’ bats come alive this week

Erupting for 21 hits helped the Henry County High School softball team pile up runs in a 19-4 rout of Rossview on Monday in Clarksville.

The big victory pushed the Lady Patriots’ record to 10-6 on the season and to 4-2 in District 10-AAA games. Henry County played host to McKenzie on Tuesday and will travel to Springfield for a district game on Thursday. Play begins at 5:30 p.m. in Springfield.



Henry County jumped on Rossview for 11 runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Patriots added three in the second, one run in the third and scored four times in the fourth inning. Rossview’s offense came in a three-run third inning and the Lady Hawks added one in the fourth.

Avery Cox belted two doubles and a single while Emma Thompson also had three hits. Alley French collected three hits with a double while Celia Lampkin belted a home run, had two hits and drove in three runs.

Jocelyn Lee contributed two hits with four runs batted in with Shelby DeMorato knocking in three runs with a double.

Lampkin pitched all four innings for the Lady Patriots, allowing two earned runs on six hits and she hit two batters. She recorded four strikeouts.
