Running never ends for the Winders famly of Mansfield.
Silas Winders scored a race victory Nov. 22 at Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville. He beat 94 competitors in the 3,200-meter time trial in a time of 8 minutes, 27 seconds. He missed the meet record by three seconds but has the fastest time in the nation this fall at that distance.
The Knoxville race was the final tuneup before the Foot Locker South Region Championship set for Saturday in Charlotte, N.C. The top 10 finishers in that race advance to the Foot Locker National Championship in San Diego.
Dinah Winders came in eighth out of 53 runners in the girls’ 3,200-meter time trial in Knoxville with a time of 11:22.
Titus Winders is a sophomore at the University of Southern Indiana where he earned All-America honors for the second straight year by placing 13th out of 263 runners at the NCAA Division II Championships last Saturday.
He ran the 10-kilometer course in 30 minutes, 8.4 seconds.
Javan Winders was one of the top seven finishers for Southern Indiana, which came in 21st out of 34 teams at the meet.
