Grove wins freshman shootout

In a true freshman football shootout, the Grove School Patriots scored a 70-52 victory over McCracken County, Ky. Thursday at Paducah.

The Patriots struggled to contain the Mustangs’ passing attack but not as much as McCracken County struggled with Grove’s running game. Grove head coach Steve Summers said the Patriots got multiple touchdowns from Zamariyon Kendall, Norman Duncan and Codi Roberts in the big win that pushed the Patriots’ record to 2-1 on the season.

Summers said Kendall went over the 200-yard mark rushing in the game and stellar work by Grove’s offensive linemen. Kendall also intercepted two passes while playing in the defensive backfield.
