Winders runs fast mile

University of Southern Indiana sophomore Titus Winders turned in a time of 4 minutes, 7.1 seconds to place ninth in a mile race at the Meyo Invitational Saturday at the University of Notre Dame at South Bend, Ind.

He was competing against a strong field that included several top NCAA Division I runners.

His time is the ninth fastest for an NCAA Division II runner, the level at which USI competes, and is the fourth fastest time in the mile ever for a USI runner.

Winders is the son of Stephanie and Lance Winders of Mansfield.
