Hudson family receives honor

Jill Coker (left, in blue jacket), chairman of the Henry County Board of Education, presents a plaque to Glenda Hudson (in white jacket) and her family in honor of her husband, the late Bill Hudson. The school board officially named the playing surface at Patriot Stadium as Bill Hudson Field on Friday. Hudson was a standout football player at Grove High School in Paris before starring at the then-Memphis State University and in the American Football League for the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills. He returned to Paris to coach the Patriots from 1971 until 1973 and was a longtime fixture in the HCHS office as an assistant principal. He died in 2016.
