Winders wins cross country state title

Henry County High School runner Silas Winders leans over as a ribbon is placed around his neck after he captured first place in the TSSAA cross country state championship race Saturday at the Iroquois Steeplechase track at Percy Warner State Park in Nashville. Winders ran the 5-kilometer race in a time of 15 minutes, 28.98 seconds. His sister, Dinah, came in ninth in the girls’ 5-K race with a time of 18:56:69. They are children of HCHS cross country coaches Lance and Stephanie Winders of Mansfield.
