The FLW Bass Fishing League tournament season continues June 15-16 with back-to-back T-H Marine FLW LBL Division tournaments on Kentucky and Barkley lakes. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively, in each tournament. Takeoffs will be at 6 a.m. both days from Paris Landing State Park. Weigh-ins will be starting at 2 p.m. June 15 and at 2:30 p.m. June 16.
Kentucky and Barkley lakes are expected to fish well for these mid-June BFL tournaments. Multiple species of bass could be in play for competitors. According to local fishing reports, bass are making their way from initial drop-offs out to the main channel. Worms, Carolina-rigged soft plastics and spinnerbaits are said to be catching fish. Casting Zoom Trick Worms to wood and flipping bushes with creature baits could also be productive.
Others may be seen working steep rocky banks or riprap using buzzbaits, Trick Worms and other topwater baits.
The winners of these tournaments will likely need five bass nearing 19 pounds at the weigh-in scales.
The 2019 BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 128 tournaments throughout the season, five qualifying events in each division.
The top 45 boaters and co-anglers from each division, along with the five winners of the qualifying events, will advance to one of six regional tournaments where they are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing — the BFL All-American.
That tournament will be April 30-May 2, 2020, at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, S.C. Top performers in the BFL can move up to the Costa FLW Series or event the FLW Tour.
